As the demand for digitally skilled talents in the Philippines rises DTI partnered with Tangere to conduct a baseline study to determine the index of hiring success of the Philippine Digital Labor Force

The Challenge:
Talent in the digital labor force remains a key blocker that all parties will need to keep working on to ensure the momentum gained in 2021 is sustained. The government is cognizant of the growing skills gap that is prevalent and is a threat to our growing internet economy. The focus is to make available a talent pool of digitally-skilled workers and develop a cadre of digitally-skilled workers to support the growing eCommerce sector.


What Tangere Provided:
Tangere carried both quantitative and qualitative approach to identify the gaps in which the government can intervene in terms of digitally skilled readiness of Talents. Tangere introduced a way to measure the future demand of talents using an e-commerce job outlook index similar to the Purchasing Manager’s Index.

The Results and Impact of the Study:

The outcome of the study greatly helped in understanding the demand of future digital talent pools in the Philippines. The results recorded a positive business for the country, and that could help business achieve maximum growth for the e-commerce sector while minimizing skills mismatch which has often been cited as a challenge or problem in various industries.
