Tangere’s July 2024 survey

A survey conducted by Tangere in July shows that 61 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with the Marcos administration’s performance, a 7 percent increase from the previous month.

Tangere’s survey also revealed that Filipinos’ dissatisfaction with the current administration decreased from 16 percent to 11 percent.

It noted that six out of 10 respondents believe that the programs outlined in this year’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) will improve their quality of life, indicating a direct correlation between SONA satisfaction and anticipated benefits.

However, Tangere said those with a more pessimistic outlook for the coming year had mixed reactions to the SONA.

It pointed out that this could reflect concerns about the government’s ability to effectively implement its policies or apprehensions about potential instability between President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte.

Highest-rated Cabinet secretaries

During the survey period, respondents were also asked to rate the Cabinet secretaries of the Marcos administration.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. received the highest satisfaction rating at 62.84 percent, reflecting strong public approval for the agency’s efforts in tackling drug-related issues and corruption.

Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, followed with 60.59 percent, indicating positive feedback on the agency’s social welfare initiatives.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara, earned a rating of 59.23 percent, while Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., received 56.62 percent, and Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, got 56.54 percent.

Meanwhile, the survey showed a gradual decline in ratings, with Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla, receiving the lowest rating at 48.29 percent.

Tangere highlighted that the data shows higher public satisfaction with departments affecting social welfare, education, defense, and finance while suggesting areas for improvement in the justice, public works and highways, and energy departments.

The survey, conducted from July 24 to 26, utilized a mobile-based respondent application and involved a sample of 2,000 participants, with a margin of error of +/- 2 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.

The sample was distributed across the Philippines with 12 percent from the National Capital Region, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
