MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s satisfaction and trust ratings saw a slight increase in October, a survey by polling firm Tangere showed on Monday.

The Tangere survey, conducted from Oct. 16 to 19, bared that Marcos’ satisfaction rating increased to 46.9 percent, up from 46.4 percent in the previous month, while his trust rating rose to 59.3 percent from 58.8 percent.

The pollster noted that support for Marcos was strongest in Northern and Central Luzon.

The highest levels of satisfaction and trust were reported among younger respondents aged 18 to 35.

The highest levels of dissatisfaction and distrust towards Marcos came from respondents in Mindanao and those aged 51 and above.

Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte saw a dip in her numbers amid the House of Representatives’ probes on the alleged misuse of public funds by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and her refusal to attend the House Committee on Appropriations’ hearings on the proposed OVP budget for 2025.

Duterte’s satisfaction rating dropped to 48 percent, down from 48.7 percent in September, and her trust rating decreased slightly to 56 percent from 56.8 percent.

Her dissatisfaction rating climbed from 32 percent to 35.9 percent, as well as her distrust rating from 22 percent to 25 percent, Tangere said.

Increased dissatisfaction with Duterte was observed in Central and Northern Luzon, along with Metro Manila.

The Vice President, however, continues to receive strong support from Mindanao, where trust and satisfaction levels are the highest.

Senate President Chiz Escudero maintained his position as the highest-rated government official with 52 percent of Filipinos expressing satisfaction with his performance.

Escudero’s trust rating also remained high, with three out of five respondents saying they trust him.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez also saw a slight rise in his satisfaction and trust ratings, which reached 46.8 percent and 57 percent, respectively.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo’s satisfaction and trust ratings remain the lowest among top government officials at 39.1 percent and 43 percent, respectively, considering that a significant portion of the public remains unfamiliar with his performance, particularly from socio-economic class D.

The Tangere survey polled 2,000 respondents using a mobile-based application, with a margin of error of ± 2.2 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent. (PNA)

MANILA – House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Tuesday thanked the public for his improved satisfaction and trust numbers, based on the results of the latest Tangere survey.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust and confidence that our people have placed in me, as reflected in the recent survey results,” he said in a statement.

According to the survey conducted on Sept. 16 to 19, Romualdez’s satisfaction rating increased from 45.55 percent to 46.3 percent, while his trust rating rose from 56 percent to 56.4 percent.

“These numbers may seem like small figures to some but to me, they represent the collective faith of Filipinos I have the privilege to serve every single day,” he added.

The Leyte’ 1st District congressman posted a strong showing in Northern Luzon, Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas, the survey data showed.

“I am especially grateful for the warm support from the Visayas region, where my roots are deeply grounded. You have always been there for me and I will continue to work hard to be worthy of your unwavering trust,” he said.

He said that while public service is not easy, the notion that they are making a difference in the lives of Filipinos through the passage of laws and implementation of government programs for the needy “fuels my commitment to serve even more.”

“Each point of increase in trust and satisfaction is a reminder of the immense responsibility we, as public servants, carry on our shoulders,” Romualdez said.

He said there is still much to be done amid many challenges the government needs to address.

He assured the House of Representatives will not rest until it achieves meaningful reforms that would address poverty, improve healthcare, create more jobs and strengthen democracy.

“This journey isn’t mine alone. It’s a shared mission with my colleagues in Congress and every Filipino who dreams of a better Philippines,” he said.

Twenty-one percent of respondents said they were “undecided” and 24 percent expressed “distrust.”

“President Bongbong Marcos’ awareness and familiarity levels remain unchanged for the April run,” Tangere said.

The technology application and innovation-driven market research company Tangere revealed the April 2024 satisfaction and trust ratings survey results for the performances of House of Representatives Speaker Martin Romualdez, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, and Senate President Migz Zubiri.

In the survey, Romualdez got a satisfaction percentage of 42 percent (41 percent in March) and 53 percent (52 percent in March) trust ratings.

See the photo for the satisfaction rating from the March to April comparison:

The slight increase in the house speaker’s satisfaction rating was driven by positive feedback from the North/Central Luzon region, the upper-income segment (ABC), and individuals aged 51 and above.

The distrust towards the House Speaker was more visible among respondents from Mindanao and the upper-income class.

Meanwhile, Zubiri attained 42 percent (40 percent in March) satisfaction rating and 53 percent (52 percent in March) trust rating.

This slight improvement was fueled by higher ratings from the older segment (51 years old and above) as well as from the South Luzon and Mindanao regions.

There is an increase in the number of respondents categorized as “undecided” in terms of Trust ratings, indicating an area “where work can be done to further increase ratings.”

“A slightly improved Satisfaction and Trust rating was noted for Senate President Migz Zubiri,” Tangere said.

Tangere found that the President’s satisfaction rating increased from 43 percent to 45 percent, while his trust rating increased from 56 percent to 58 percent.

Conversely, his dissatisfaction and distrust ratings decreased by 3 percent and 2 percent, respectively.

President Marcos’ highest satisfaction and trust ratings were observed in Northern and Central Luzon, as well as among respondents aged 26 to 35.

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction and distrust were more prevalent among respondents in Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and 45 years old and above.

Sara’s ratings drop

Following her resignation as secretary of the Department of Education on June 19, Vice President Duterte experienced a marginal decrease in her satisfaction and trust ratings.

Her satisfaction rating dropped from 52 percent to 50 percent, while her trust rating decreased from 60 percent to 58 percent.

Tangere also highlighted a rise in distrust and dissatisfaction toward Duterte during this period, despite her continued strong support base in Mindanao.

Conversely, dissatisfaction and distrust were more pronounced in Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, and Northern Luzon.

Escudero, Romualdez gain higher ratings

Meanwhile, Senator Francis Escudero, in his first term as Senate President, emerged as the highest-rated top government official in the country. Duterte was the highest-rated official in the previous survey.

Escudero received a satisfaction rating of 51 percent and a trust rating of 60 percent.

The survey also highlighted that dissatisfaction and distrust toward the Senate President are notably lower compared to the other top officials, at 22 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

His highest ratings are concentrated among respondents in Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, and Bicol Region.

Speaker Martin Romualdez also saw gains in his satisfaction and trust ratings.

His satisfaction rating rose from 43 percent to 45 percent, while his trust rating increased from 54 percent to 55 percent.

The survey also noted a decrease in distrust and dissatisfaction toward the House Speaker during the same period.

Tangere pointed out that the gain in Romualdez’s ratings was particularly propelled by respondents from Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Eastern Visayas.

However, distrust and dissatisfaction levels were higher among respondents from Mindanao and those aged 36 to 45.

Gesmundo’s ratings remain stable

In contrast, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo’s ratings showed minimal change for June 2024 compared to the previous survey.

Tangere noted that the results did not indicate any significant improvement in Gesmundo’s satisfaction and trust ratings, nor awareness and familiarity levels among the public.

The survey was conducted using a mobile-based respondent application with a sample size of 2,000 participants, employing a stratified random sampling or quota-based sampling method.

The respondents were proportionately distributed across the Philippines—12 percent from Metro Manila, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has thanked Filipinos on Tuesday, Sept. 24, for his improved public satisfaction and trust numbers, while giving special mention to his home region of Visayas.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust and confidence that our people have placed in me, as reflected in the recent survey results,” Romualdez said.

The House leader was referring to the results of the latest Tangere survey carried out between Sept. 16 and 19.

“These numbers may seem like small figures to some, but to me, they represent the collective faith of Filipinos I have the privilege to serve every single day,” the Speaker said.

The Tangere survey results showed that Romualdez’s satisfaction rating increased from 45.55 percent during the previous poll to 46.3 percent, while his trust ratings rose from 56 percent during the previous poll to 56.4 percent.

Romualdez, who earlier bared that he would seek reelection next year as Leyte’s 1st district congressman, posed a strong showing in the regions of Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Eastern Visayas, according to the survey data. This detail was not lost on him.

“I am especially grateful for the warm support from the Visayas region, where my roots are deeply grounded. You have always been there for me, and I will continue to work hard to be worthy of your unwavering trust,” he said.

“Each point of increase in trust and satisfaction is a reminder of the immense responsibility we, as public servants, carry on our shoulders,” said Romualdez, also president of the dominant Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.

He said that while public service isn’t easy, the notion that they are making a difference in the lives of Filipinos through the passage of laws and implementation of government programs for the needy “fuels my commitment to serve even more”.

“I know there is still much to be done. Our country faces many challenges, and I assure you that the House of Representatives will not rest until we achieve meaningful reforms that address poverty, improve healthcare, create more jobs, and strengthen our democracy,” Romualdez said.

“This journey isn’t mine alone; it’s a shared mission with my colleagues in Congress and every Filipino who dreams of a better Philippines,” added the House chief.

The Tangere survey included 2,000 participants from across the Philippines—12 percent from the National Capital Region, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.

If it’s any consolation, House Speaker Martin Romualdez was the only high-ranking public official who saw an increase is his trust and satisfaction ratings based on the latest survey of independent pollster Tangere.

Conducted in March, the Tangere survey results showed that Romualdez’s trust and satisfaction ratings both went up by 1 percentage point.

Specifically, Romualdez’s trust rating increased from 51 percent in February to 52 percent in March of this year, while his satisfaction rating increased from 40 percent in February to 41 percent the following month.

While the Speaker’s numbers went up, those from other top government officials either dipped or remained the same.

President Marcos continues to enjoy high trust and satisfaction ratings at 54 percent and 41 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust and satisfaction figures slid by 4 percentage points and 3 percentage points, respectively, to 64 percent and 54 percent. This was the highest reduction as per the Tangere survey.

Romualdez, the leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives and the fourth highest official of the land, scored the highest ratings in the Visayas region in terms of both trust and satisfaction among the respondents.

The latest Tangere survey polled 2,000 respondents, with a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.

The results of a Publicus Asia survey released Tuesday, April 2, showed that Romualdez’s approval rating dropped from 36 percent to 25 percent.

Romualdez represents Leyte’s 1st district in the House of Representatives.

Despite a slight decline in the April 2024 Satisfaction and Trust Ratings, Vice President Sara Duterte remained the top government official, attaining the highest percentage in two surveys, according to the Tangere Survey Application.

Based on the study, Duterte’s satisfaction ratings dropped from 54 percent in March to 53 percent in April.

Twenty-three percent of the respondents were “undecided,” while 24 percent were “dissatisfied.”

The decrease is also evident in Trust Ratings, with the Vice President, who is also the Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary, receiving 62 percent for April, down from 64 percent in March.

It also revealed that 20 percent of respondents are “undecided”, and 18 percent are “distrustful” on average.

The survey observed a decrease in Duterte’s satisfaction ratings across nearly all geographic regions, particularly notable in North Luzon, Visayas, and even Mindanao.

Trust ratings for the Vice President have also seen a decline across various demographic segments, except for South Luzon.

Specifically, it is in the Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin) regions, as well as among lower-income segments, where the trust rating of Duterte has dropped.

The survey was conducted through a mobile-based respondent application, with a sample size of 2,400, utilizing a Stratified Random Sampling method (quota-based sampling) from April 24 to 27.

The survey results carry a margin of error of ± 2.20 percent at a 95 percent Confidence Level.

“The proportion was spread throughout the Philippines with 12 percent from NCR, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from the Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao,” Tangere said.

MANILA, Philippines — The latest survey conducted by Tangere and released on Tuesday showed that Secretary Rexlon Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) holds the highest satisfaction rating among the Cabinet members of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.

With a 61.07 percent satisfaction rate, Gatchalian gained notable support, particularly from respondents within the socio-economic classes D and E, who constitute the primary drivers of his high approval ratings.

The survey, conducted from Oct. 23-25, 2024, also revealed satisfaction ratings for other key Cabinet officials. Following Gatchalian, the highest-rated Cabinet members include:

Secretary of Education Sonny Angara – 60.73 percent

Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro Jr. – 55.87 percent

Secretary of Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla – 53.73 percent

Secretary of Finance Ralph Recto – 52.87 percent

Each of these officials has been commended for their respective impact, with Remulla’s support strengthened by the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) ongoing programs against drugs and corruption.

According to Tangere, the ratings indicate that departments focusing on social welfare, education, defense, and finance resonate well with the public. Conversely, the survey suggests that areas such as justice, public works, and energy may need to improve in order to gain greater public confidence.

The survey was conducted via Tangere’s mobile-based respondent application, reaching a sample size of 1,500 participants across the Philippines.

With a margin of error of +/- 2.50 percent at a 95 percent confidence level, the study used stratified random sampling with proportional representation from key regions, including the National Capital Region (12 percent), Northern Luzon (23 percent), Southern Luzon (22 percent), Visayas (20 percent), and Mindanao (23 percent).

Tangere is a leading technology-driven market research and public opinion polling firm that continues to capture Filipino sentiments on various issues through innovative digital platforms.
